Mike Lindell, Twitter, and Cancel Culture: Where Are We Headed?

I’m curious. What happened to the days when someone would say something outrageous and people laughed or shrugged it off at best, and at worst just called them crazy? Remember when everyone said Trump only “won” because of help from Russia? How many of y’all still think that? You were allowed to say it, right? As you should, because it was your point of view and concern. Celebrities were allowed to say it–encouraged even. Why are people suddenly having their whole accounts blocked and deleted for speaking up against what they feel is unjust, or illegal? This dude sells pillows for Heaven’s sake. What exactly is he going to do? And remember, if you think this is nothing to be concerned about, just know that when the president or government does something that you feel is not right (and trust me, they will. They always do at some point) they will not hesitate to do the same thing to you because things like this are being accepted as the new normal. If this continues, when it’s your turn to be outraged you will be silenced as well. And while I’m sure everyone realizes that we don’t have to solely depend on our social media platforms and their rules, the next steps to silencing folks could be much scarier. It’s already slipping into the sector of private business, but what next? Once people ultimately leave social media from having their accounts wiped, and people want to speak in public, in person, then what? Will the police step in? Will you be arrested for saying something negative about whatever current president is in office or the government? Will suggesting that an election wasn’t fairly won win you a night in real jail? Is it not an extremely slippery slope? Are we not aware of other countries who have adopted the same mindset where their leaders are concerned? Folks afraid to speak out against them for fear of losing everything? And this isn’t even about a person being rude, making threats, using profanity, or personally attacking someone. This is just a person (like many four years ago) simply suggesting that something isn’t adding up where the election is concerned. What’s next?

Democrat, Republican, Trump supporters or Trump haters, we should all be concerned. I may not agree with what all of my friends have to say, but they should not have their account deleted for saying it! This is a good guy who is a good boss who owns a business with zero outsourcing to other countries. Everything is made in America, meanwhile Twitter, Kohl’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kroger, and HEB would rather attempt to shut him down (which has actually had the opposite effect coincidentally.) He even founded an organization that helps people who are breaking addictions. How is he suddenly a terrible person? This isn’t a red vs blue post, so I’m not even going to argue that today, and I know none of you reading this are here to argue with each other and be ugly either–plus no one understands my specific beliefs anyway. Right now, we should be coming together. This is about where this country could be headed and I just hope you are all paying attention. I’m sharing this out of love and concern for all of us. Even if you personally don’t like Donald Trump, please listen to what Mr. Lindell has to say in this interview. It can’t hurt. And if you disagree that this was an overreaction then…well, you disagree, I accept that, and we are still friends. Still Americans being civil to each other, and I still love you. God bless.
